A new POPs have emerged: POPSLoader v3 for CFW 6.XX PRO. With POPSLoader you can emulate some PSX (PS1/PSOne) game ... not just those that can be downloaded from PSN.

If I have to highlight a few programs I use myself, it must be Pimpstreamer which is a program to install on your computer and your PSP, then you can stream movies / audio and pictures from your computer to your PSP so you do not have to put everything onto the same memory.
Another program may be IR Shell which is a different interface than the original.

I've had linux on my PSP and I've tried all sorts of programs on my PSP which has been quite funny instead of just using it to play on.

You may not use these homebrew programs until you have a "custom firmware" This I will tell you about one of these days.
